The One Player I Want to Add to LSU Football This Season

It seems Burfict is choosing Matt Barkley as his next victim

As much I as love Jarrett Lee's play as the starting quarterback, I would rather have Andrew Luck.

But of course that's the case. Luck, according to ESPN NFL Analyst Trent Dilfer, is the best pro quarterback prospect he has ever seen.

I'm not going down that route. It's too easy.

I'm going to pick a player at a position of need for LSU. And as impressive as LSU as been, it comes to no surprise there is only one position where the Tigers have struggled.

The player I want to choose is Arizona State linebacker Vontaze Burfict.

This week has been extremely difficult as I have been sick. But it was well worth talking with one of young up and coming writers here in Baton Rouge.

Jarrett Lee is the Offensive MVP After Four Games

The LSU Tigers are the No.1 team in college football after today's new AP Poll was released.
Lee has been on point for the Tigers this season.

With the Tigers beating three ranked opponents away from home this year on national television, it comes to a surprise to nobody. And the Bayou Bengals has been stifling, led by National Players of the Week Tyrann Mathieu and Morris Claiborne.

The offense has been efficient. The rushing attack behind the offensive line has been dominant at the line of scrimmage.

But the Most Valuable Player for the Tigers offense has been quarterback Jarrett Lee

I was lucky enough to join Aaron Torres of Aaron Torres Sports to preview LSU's road matchup versus the West Virginia Mountaineers.

YOU CAN ACCESS THE INTERVIEW BY CLICKING HERE.

We discuss everything. What does Russell Shepard returning to the offense do for LSU? Should Jarrett Lee remain the starter if Jordan Jefferson returns? Can there be a let down by the LSU Defense?

Aaron has come on my show before and he is one of the hardest working guys in the business. Always check out what he has going on for Aaron Torres Sports and Crystal Ball Run. You can also follow Aaron on Twitter @Aaron_Torres

LSU Needs to be Careful With Russell Shepard

Deci$ions. Deci$ions.
Can Shepard make big plays vs WVU?
Photo via USA Today

If anybody is known for making the tough deci$ions, it's LSU coach Les Miles. That's why "The Mad Hatter" gets just under $4 million smackers a year in salary.

From staying away from Michigan twice to going for it on fourth down to picking which blade of grass to eat, Miles seems to always be right. This season, "The Mad Hatter" hasn't had to make many difficult ones on the field because of his team's dominating performance in their first three games.

But one of Miles toughest decisions will be in Morgantown next weekend.

The piquant, joyous LSU receiver Russell Shepard is one of the most electric players in college football when he has the ball in his hands. Off the field, Shepard is considered as one of the team's leaders.

Shepard is the most exciting sound bite on the team. The entertainment factor he brings can't be matched. When I interviewed him for 91.1 KLSU fm, he instructed me on how to increase my "Swag."

LSU Students will have a "Pink Out" versus the Kentucky Wildcats on Oct. 1st in Tiger Stadium.

Students will wear all pink to raise breast cancer awareness for former LSU linebacker Bradie James' organization "Foundation 56." The "Pink Out" movement was started by LSU Student Government.

Student Government Executive Director of Athletics Chas Kelly says anything to do help a good cause has been one of his goals since taking the position.

"We've all had a friend or family member affected by breast cancer, including me" said an emotional Kelly. "We (Student Government) will strive to do anything to help 'Foundation 56,' an organization that has helped saved many lives."

Kelly said he, Student Body President Cody Wells and a few other members of Student Government will meet with Sr. Associate Athletic Director Herb Vincent later this week about promoting this event.

Kelly emphasizes this movement isn't just for students.

"It doesn't matter who you are, you can participate. Wear pink. We must raise awareness to help find a cure to this deadly cancer," said Kelly.

The Tigers will clash with the Wildcats in their next home game in Tiger Stadium. For more information, contact Kelly and LSU Student Government by visiting their website.
