LSU No. 1 in the First BCS Poll, But What About The Others?

Carter "The Power" Bryant Sunday, October 16, 2011 , , , , , ,
LSU is the No. 1 team in the country in the poll that matters.
Many Consider this book the 95 Thesis
of college football.

To bad it doesn't really matter for the Tigers.

In the first BCS Poll released earlier tonight, LSU was revealed as the best team in college football. Alabama was No. 2, followed by fellow unbeatens Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Boise State, Wisconsin, Clemson and Stanford.

The Tigers shouldn't pay attention to what a mixture of computers and humans think about them. And Les Miles has let it be known rankings don't affect him or his team.

If LSU remains undefeated for the rest of the season, they will play in the BCS National Championship in New Orleans for the third consecutive time. The same goes to Alabama, who will play LSU on Nov. 5. If the winner of Oklahoma and Oklahoma St. later this season remains unscathed, they will be the opponent of a SEC unbeaten.

But is this fair to the four other undefeated teams? Because none of those teams don't play each other, there can be a scenario where there could be six undefeated teams at the end of the year.

This can be fun. A ton of fun.

Auburn Wins First BCS Title, But Was Dyer Down?

Carter "The Power" Bryant Monday, January 10, 2011 , , , , , , ,
Auburn finally earned their first crystal ball after an undefeated season.

The Tigers defeated the Oregon Ducks 22-19 in one of the best National Championship games in the sport's history Monday night.

But did the heavily criticized Big Ten officiating crew make a mistake on the game's most controversial play?

Freshman running back Michael Dyer, as I predicted before the game (shameless promotion), played the game of his life. His long runs on the game's final drive proved to be the difference for the Tigers. But was he down on his 37 yard scamper deep into Oregon territory?

MockSession.com investigated the run with this in-depth video....

What do you guys think? Was he down? Was Arkansas tight end D.J. Williams down?

HKT would love to hear your thoughts. Not like there isn't enough drama going on in the SEC or anything.

BCS National Championship Prediction

Fairley will pile-drive the opponent.

The game is only a few hours away, but here a few thoughts and a prediction for the BCS National Championship Game...

The game needs to be moved before NFL wildcard weekend.

There is little doubt in my mind that the game has lost a little bit of its luster now that the game will be played after a spectacular weekend in NFL games.

And this game has been dragged on for too long. I can't count how many times I've heard players complaining that the game can't come soon enough.

LET'S PLAY FOOTBALL ALREADY!!!

Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley is being overhyped for this game.

Arkansas vs Ohio State -- Sugar Bowl Preview

Petrino is an X's and O's Guru.
The Big Ten has been anything but legendary, nor have they displayed much leadership so far in the Bowl Season. The conference went 0-5 on Saturday, and a few of the games weren't even competitive.

Their last hope is "The Ohio State University" in a BCS bowl game versus an athletic SEC opponent. The Buckeyes are 0-9 versus SEC teams in bowl games.

It's been a Bryant family tradition to attend the Sugar Bowl in New Orleans every year. We didn't attend last year's game because we thought the game was going to be ridiculous. And thank goodness we were right.

This game will be different. That's just because a Big East team won't be playing.

This year's game will be well worth the time and travel. With plenty of NFL players on both sides of the ball, this will be a treat to watch.

Dear Mr. Ingram, Please Hear Me Out (Again)

Ingram rushed for 144 yards versus LSU

As many of you already know, I posted this letter before the college football season started. Three days later, Mark Ingram suffered a knee injury that forced him to miss the first two games of the season. Since I've spent most of my life in "The Natural State," some of my friends have asked me to post this column before the Alabama vs Arkansas game this weekend. But still, I don't care about the Hogs and was probably going to repost it anyway. The letter is still in original form with a few extra pictures.

Dear Mr. Ingram,

My name is Carter Bryant, and first let me say you are one of the few truly outstanding individuals in college football.

For the last two years, I have been a credentialed member of the media covering LSU Tigers athletics. My favorite game I have ever covered was LSU vs Alabama in Tuscaloosa last year.

In the postgame presser of that game, you handled questions with grace and humility, proving that you are truly a team first player.

Later on down the road you would be crowned the only Heisman winner in Alabama's illustrious history. You did this while avoiding the “Heisman National Championship Curse” and leading your team to the title for the first time since '92.

But I write this note to say something that you will not like or want to hear.

A History Of Greatness: Where Nevis Ranks Among LSU Defensive Tackles

Lavalais did a little bit of everything as a defensive tackle.

HardKnockTigers would like to welcome contributing writer Ryan Brumley. With me being a former defensive tackle, he attacks a subject that draws near to my heart in his first work for HKT. Contact him at RyanBrum6@gmail.com.

Over the past the past few years, Tigers fans have been waiting for the next great defensive tackle after years of domination at the position.

Drake Nevis has finally exploded into that role this year. After having a stellar junior season, Nevis is now one of LSU's senior leaders on defense.
