NFL Divisional Round Playoff Picks

Polamalu = Best player in the NFL (non-QB)

This is a college football website that primarily covers LSU Sports. This post has nothing to do with LSU.

I love the NFL. I'm going to give my picks for this weekends divisional playoff games in the NFL because I can.

Last week I picked all the Wild Card/road teams to win their playoff games. It turned out good for me, as I went 3-1 in those games.

Too bad the Saints were the team that lost. I almost picked the Seahawks, but I just couldn't do it.

This week I thought about picking all home teams. But as the week moved on, I started thinking "Maybe home field doesn't mean as much as it once did in the playoffs."

This morning on Mike and Mike, they showed a revealing stat that would surprise many NFL fans.

In the past five years, home teams in the divisional rounds went 10-10. In the 15 years prior, home teams were 49-15.

With that in mind, here are my picks...

Ravens over Steelers
Falcons over Packers
Bears over Seahawks
Patriots over Jets

I am actually going against the recent trend. I went with three home teams and the Ravens. I actually think the Steelers are the better team, but an unhealthy Troy Polamalu is never a good thing.

I could do a long and extensive breakdown of these games, but I want to live some form of a social life.

Enjoy the weekend!!!

LSU Stifles Vanderbilt 27-3, Moves to 2-0

LSU Football always finds ways to beat teams ugly, even when the scoreline doesn't say so.

The Tigers defeated the Vanderbilt Commodores 27-3 in Nashville on Saturday night, but did so as ungracefully on offense as possible.

Les Miles tried many new faces tonight, highlighted by solid performances by Josh Williford at guard and true freshmen Alfred Blue and Spencer Ware at running back.

But if there was a LVP, it would quarterback Jordan Jefferson.

Jefferson went 8-20 for 96 yards. He also threw an interception in the red zone, which is a cardinal sin for a signal caller.

Dear Mr. Ingram, Please Hear Me Out

Ingram racked up 144 yards versus LSU last season

Dear Mr. Ingram,

My name is Carter Bryant, and first let me say you are one of the few truly outstanding individuals in college football.

For the last two years, I have been a credentialed member of the media covering LSU Tigers athletics. My favorite game I have ever covered was LSU vs Alabama in Tuscaloosa last year.

In the postgame presser of that game, you handled questions with grace and humility, proving that you are truly a team first player.

Later on down the road you would be crowned the only Heisman winner in Alabama's illustrious history. You did this while avoiding the “Heisman National Championship Curse” and leading your team to the title for the first time since '92.

But I write this note to say something that you will not like or want to hear.

Trindon Holliday Transitions to the NFL

Carter "The Power" Bryant Wednesday, August 18, 2010 , , , ,

Metairie, La. -- Let me get this off my chest. It's weird watching Trindon Holliday run at full speed while not wearing purple and gold in the process.

Holliday's transition to the NFL has been interesting to say the least. The LSU record holder for the 100 meter dash is making the transition from running back to wide receiver for the Houston Texans.

Live From Saints Training Camp

Carter "The Power" Bryant , , , ,
For the next few days I will be out at Saints Training Camp covering the defending Super Bowl Champs in Metairie, La. for 1210 The Score and KLSU.

My radio slots for the stations will change daily, but I will most likely be on around 11:15 on The Score and from 3:40 to 5:40 on 91.1 KLSU. Both stations stream live from their websites.

So, for your entertainment, I will try my hardest to keep up with the latest LSU Football news, while posting a thing or two about the Who Dats as they prepare for their next preseason game versus the Texans.
